My Glasses Club journey so far

So I thought I would write a brief blog to talk about the My Glasses Club journey so far. For those that may know a little bit about me I started out in business selling outdoor equipment online. My company, predominantly sold things you would find a typical outdoor enthusiast wearing on the hill – boots, waterproofs, rucksacks etc etc.

So you could say that the world of optics is a far cry from the green hills of the outdoor industry. And you would be right in thinking so, but I firmly believe that business is business and when broken down to its basics counterparts it is always about people. Your supply partners, your customers and your staff.

That said, I have found the transition into optics very challenging but at the same time immensely rewarding. There is certainly more red tape, legal considerations, and complexities when dealing with prescription eyewear online. But increasing numbers of consumers are looking to the online marketplace. Whilst I am a great advocate of the high-street retail opticians I also feel we are serving a totally different customer, one looking for convenience, value for money and a greater range to browse.

Since we have launched we have learnt so much already about the market and more importantly what our customers want. And I think this customer focused attitude with our eye firmly on innovating the industry will stand us in good stead for the future.

But right now we’re at the start and I'm sure that the road ahead will have many twists and turns. But if we continue to focus our efforts on meeting our customers’ changing needs with refreshing ideas and do some good along the way then I am sure the journey will be rewarding for us all.
